POWDER SPRINGS LEADERS ENDORSE THURMAN

Support for Al Thurman continues to grow among Powder Springs' community leaders and voters. Three local leaders -- including recent mayoral candidate Alison Feliciano -- have stepped forward to endorse Thurman for mayor. City Councilwoman Nancy Hudson and former Powder Springs councilman Ra Barr also are supporting Thurman’s campaign for mayor.

Feliciano noted her campaign goal was to change the style of management that has prevailed so long at city hall under incumbent mayor Patricia Vaughn. Feliciano said of the two remaining mayoral candidates, she believes Thurman is more committed to management accountability.

"He stands for a better kind of leadership, forward-thinking, transparent and responsive to all city residents," Feliciano said of Thurman.

"Al will engage everyone in the process of growth -- City Council, city employees, business leaders, and most importantly our citizens. We're on the same page," Feliciano said.

Hudson added: "Al Thurman and I have served together on the Powder Springs City Council for six years. Al has always taken to heart the voice of our citizens when making decisions.

"Being a man of faith, I believe Al will hold himself accountable not only to the citizens but to our God; always looking for His guidance in carrying the City of Powder Springs forward."

Barr also weighed in on the mayoral race, adding, â€œI have known Al for more than 12  years as a thoughtful, deliberate councilman who makes decisions based on how the city's actions will impact all residents of Powder Springs. I would expect nothing less as Mayor of the city."
